Enchanted Kingdom

Enchanted Kingdom is brought by Newmoon, a new media artist based in South Korea and United States. Her exhibition, Enchanted Kingdom, challenges the boundary between different genres of art. A main medium of her works is an imagination. She replicates the cityscape image in 3d model and adds imaginative elements such as geometric objects and futuristic colors. This transforms an everyday landscape into an ideal fantastical world.Her works reminds us the fact that the ideal is based on our reality and imagination. The exhibition was planned to invite the audience to her dream world.

뉴문(Newmoon)은 미국과 한국을 기반으로 활동중인 뉴미디어 아티스트이다.  온라인 전시회 Enchanted Kingdom은 일상적인 소재에 동화적 요소들을 결합하여  이상세계를 구축한다. 그는 우리 주위에서 흔히 볼 수 있는 도시의 풍경을 3D 기술을 활용하여 재현하고, 이를 기하학적인 조형물 그리고 미래적인 색채와 배합하여 새로운 풍경으로 재창조한다. 멀리서 보면 아름다운 상상 속의 풍경화처럼 보이지만, 가까이 다가설수록 나타나는 현실적인 도시의 모습은 우리에게 이상세계의 이면에 대해서 질문한다.  그의 작품은 결국 우리가 동경하는 동화도 현실에 상상력을 더하여 만들어진 현실세계라는 사실을 환기시킨다. 상상력으로 현실이 동화가 되는 세상을 꿈꾸면서 그는 이번 전시 Enchanted Kingdom를 통해서 관람객들을 꿈에 세계로 초대하고자 한다.
